Team of the Week - 02.10.26

Some seriously special moments from across the sporting world this week.

Shubman Gill produced a sensational 223 not out as India chased down West Indies’ record total, Warrington Wolves booked their place in the Super League Grand Final as they chase a first domestic title since 1955, 11 year old Bodhana Sivanandan became the youngest ever woman grandmaster, and Tyler Loop held his nerve to kick a 56 yard game winning field goal with one second left on the clock.

Warrington Wolves

Super League Grand Finalists

Yes, I know we’ve got an unprecedented rugby league double this week, and yes many will ask why I haven’t picked Wakefield - but Warrington holds a special place in my heart. I used to spend hours at the Halliwell Jones, cheering on the mighty Wire, and have even witnessed the side at Old Trafford for a Grand Final. However, Warrington haven’t claimed the domestic title since 1955 - a very exciting moment for a town that lives and breathes rugby league.

Shubman Gill

Indian cricketer

Gill scored a sensational career-high 223 not out as his side chased down West Indies' record 405-7 with 39 balls to spare. West Indies had posted their highest ever total in the format with three of their players hitting centuries, but Gill had other ideas hitting a century off just 62 balls, and reaching 200 only 55 balls later. It's only the second time a side has chased down 400-plus runs in ODI history.

Tyler Loop

Baltimore Ravens kicker

The NFL season is back in full swing and back to producing insane moments. With the Baltimore Ravens tied 31-31 with the Dallas Cowboys with just one second left on the clock, Tyler Loop steps up from 56 yards to slot a game winning field goal and secure the Ravens the win. He's gone on to be awarded the AFC Special Teams player of the week.

Bodhana Sivanandan

Youngest ever woman grandmaster

It’s been a while since we talked chess on the Team of the Week, so here we go. 11-year-old Bodhana Sivanandan has become the youngest ever holder of the title of woman grandmaster, following the recent Chess Olympiad in Uzbekistan. She played on a car booster seat to allow her to reach the board, and was back at school by Tuesday.
