Team of the Week - 30.10.26

Four very different historic achievements headline another mammoth week of sport.

B️ritish sport was spoiled this week, with Jake Jarman winning two individual medals at the World Championships while Harry Kane became England's first Ballon D'or winner in decades. Fleetwood Town created cup magic with a huge upset against the Premier League champions, and across the pond the Milwaukee Brewers ended their 57-year wait for a World Series title.

Jake Jarman

British gymnast

Jake Jarman made British gymnastics history, becoming the first British man to win two individual medals at a single World Championships. After silver on floor, he added another silver in the vault final, cementing his status as Britain's most decorated World Championships gymnast. A landmark week for Jarman and another major boost for British gymnastics on the global stage.

Harry Kane

Men's Ballon D'or winner

A remarkable night for many good, and some outright bizarre reasons, saw the Englishman pick up the iconic Ballon D'or trophy capping off a superb individual season. Munich's number nine accumulated outrageous stats, getting scarily close to what many would call Messi and Ronaldo numbers, to see off his competition and be named the world's best. Shoutout, too, to every winner of the numerous awards dished out at the Palladium.

Fleetwood Town

Carabao Cup giant killers

A dream week for Spurs fans, a win at the Bridge and a Ballon D'or for one of our own, were already more than enough but Fleetwood Town thought they'd dump Arsenal out the league cup as the cherry on top. An incredible shootout win over the current PL champions and a team 84 places above them in the pyramid, a proper giant killing. Teenager Conor Haughey stuck the winning penalty away as Highbury erupted into very well-deserved celebrations.

Milwaukee Brewers

World Series champions

The Milwaukee Brewers have made history, winning their first-ever World Series title after 57 years and defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in the series. Built on smart recruitment rather than a huge payroll, Milwaukee's triumph is a reminder that strategy and culture can still overcome bigger budgets. Catcher William Contreras was named World Series MVP as the Brewers capped a dominant postseason run.
