Team of the Week - 21.08.26

History, honesty and some brilliant sporting moments define this week’s Team of the Week. ๐Ÿ‘

Amy Hunt made
European Championships history with four gold medals, Donna Rose bravely opened up about her experiences with borderline personality disorder, British Equestrian enjoyed a hugely successful World Championships in Germany, and Jack Whaley became just the third Englishman to win the US Amateur Championship with his dad on the bag.

British Equestrian

Medals galore at the World Champs

What a couple of weeks it has been for British Equestrian, with non-stop action in Germany for the FEI World Championships. Last week saw the GB dressage team qualify for the LA28 Olympics, before a historic 'double-double' gold for Britain’s Lottie Fry and Glamourdale. Britain also claimed eventing team gold, as well as a host of medals across the disciplines, including a strong start to the para dressage action with gold and bronze added to the tally.

Jack Whaley

US Amateur Champion

Whaley became the third ever Englishman to win the US Amateur Championship this week and he did so in an extremely wholesome manner. The 22-year-old from Doncaster was caddy'd by none other than his dad, Andy. The pair shared an emotional embrace after the winning putt and Jack has since received a number of messages from British stars, including a phone call from Justin Rose. A proper 'this is what sport is all about' story.

Amy Hunt

Four time European champion

What a week for Amy Hunt. The 24 year old has become the first athlete in European Championships history to win four gold medals at a single Games, taking the 100m, 200m, women’s 4x100m and mixed 4x100m titles in Birmingham. After overcoming injuries and a difficult season, Hunt has announced herself as one of British athletics’ biggest stars and helped bring a real buzz back to the sport.

Donna Rose

Welsh rugby player

Opening up about life off the pitch is brave for any athlete, especially when it comes to a condition that people know little about. Huge well done to Welsh prop Donna Rose who, off the back of an amazing year on the pitch, has talked to the BBC about her daily struggles with borderline personality disorder.
