For the first time in 25-years, Britain has a world rally champion. Welshman Elfyn Evans, who has finished runner-up five times, took the title ahead of Sweden’s Oliver Solberg, who lost control of his car only a few hundred metres from the finish line in the Rally Italia Sardegna. Evans has become only the third Brit to win the title.

Borgohain not only won gold in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 boxing competition last weekend, she also made history by becoming the first Indian woman to compete in two Asian Games boxing finals, going one step further than her silver medal appearance in Hangzhou. Her success contributed to a strong team-wide performance by India who topped the table with three gold and three bronze medals.

Kaur is relinquishing her captaincy, ending an era in which she became the team’s most influential leader and one of the most recognisable figures in the sport. Debuting for India in 2009, Harmanpreet has been an integral part of the national side across every format and is best known for her unforgettable World Cup century against Australia in 2017.

An unusual approach to travelling to a Grand Prix, but Valtteri Bottas cycled from Malaysia to Singapore to compete in this weekend’s race. The Cadillac driver is a keen cyclist, and chose a 260-mile bike ride instead of flying, beginning his journey just hours after he span out of last weekend’s Grand Prix.
