Success at Wimbledon, resilience in the Euros, and a strong stand against abuse highlight a week of powerful performances.

Iga Swiatek, Julian Cash, and Lloyd Glasspool all claimed big wins on Centre Court, while the Lionesses held their nerve to edge past the Euros quarter-finals. Off the pitch, Salford City made a powerful stand against discrimination.

Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool

Wimbledon men’s doubles winners

It might seem a lifetime ago already, but it’s been less than a week since Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool made history, becoming the first all-British pair to win the men’s doubles title at Wimbledon for 89 years. Amazing work from the duo.

Iga Swiatek

Wimbledon Women’s Champion

Iga Swiatek defeated Amanda Anisimova 6–0, 6–0 in her inaugural Wimbledon final to claim her first title at the tournament. It was the first women’s final since 1911 to end without the winner dropping a single game. Now ranked number three in the world, the 24-year-old will look to carry her incredible form through the rest of the year.

Salford City FC

Making a difference

After players reported hearing racial abuse from the stands, manager Karl Robinson marched his players off the pitch in defiance against the abuse his players were facing. Campaigns such as Kick it out and taking the knee before kick off are making great differences, but until more teams start taking Slaford City’s approach, we can hope to see more change in the face of racial abuse.

Lionesses

Dramatic Euro quarter final winners

Going 2-0 down, all seemed lost for Sarina Wiegman as their title defence of the Euros seemed down and out. However, a few clever subs and a brilliant penalty shootout saw the Lionesses continue to roar, securing their spot in the semi-finals

Inactivity is quietly draining our economy, health system and communities. Sport England’s latest research is a wake-up call: equal access to sport and exercise could unlock £20 billion in savings and productivity gains for the UK. That’s not just a health issue, it’s an economic imperative. The data is compelling: For every £1 invested in grassroots sport, £4.38 is returned in savings and benefits. Grassroots sport contributes £36 billion annually to the economy and generates £14 billion in tax revenue. Yet inequalities persist. Those with disabilities, lower incomes, and black communities remain the least active. At New Reach, we believe the solution is clear: movement. Sport isn’t just about participation; it’s about inclusion, opportunity, and impact. Every mile run, every game played, every community initiative matters, not just for health, but for economic resilience and social cohesion. As the government prepares its Budget, the questions are: How do we make sport accessible for everyone? How do we turn participation into a national priority? Because the cost of doing nothing is too high. At New Reach, we help brands, rights holders, and organisations turn this challenge into opportunity. Through strategic PR, creative campaigns, and partnerships, we amplify the benefits of sport - driving participation, tackling inequalities, and delivering measurable impact for communities and the economy.
