Team of the Week - 24.10.25

This Team of the Week shows that all good things must come to an end.

While the Moroccan U-20s lifted their first trophy and Noah Calouri is just at the start of his journey, Emily Scarratt is calling it a day at the end of an illustrious career.

Nick has gone for one of the more obscure picks this week.

Sumo … of course

Grand Sumo Tournament in London

What else would I be writing about, but a masterpiece in PR, with the Grand Sumo Tournament taking over London. Sumo wrestlers at the Royal Albert Hall, recreating the iconic cover of The Beatles' Abbey Road album, Harrods, Platform 9 ¾ and much more. What made the Grand Sumo Tournament in London so successful was not solely the action itself, instead the people and appeal behind the uniqueness of the sport.

Noah Calouri

Saracens’ new wonderkid

Noah Calouri has burst onto the rugby scene after an explosive five-try Premiership debut for Saracens in a 65–14 win over Sale. Calouri, just 19, has since been invited to train with the England Men’s rugby team, with hopes of earning a place in the squad this autumn. Keep an eye on him.

Morocco U-20s Men’s Football Team

U-20 FIFA World Cup Champions

Morocco U-20s cemented their place in history after beating France 2–0 in the U-20 World Cup Final to win the nation’s first ever FIFA-ranked title. In just their fourth appearance at the tournament, Morocco overcame Spain, Brazil, South Korea, the USA and France to claim the trophy, and they plan to use this victory to propel themselves into serious contention at all age groups.

Emily Scarratt

England and Loughborough Lightning Women’s Rugby Player

Emily Scarratt, regarded by many as the greatest women’s rugby player of all time, has decided to hang up her boots for both club and country. Scarratt finishes with 119 England caps and holds the record as the nation’s top point scorer with 754 points. She has been a cornerstone of the England side for over 15 years and fully deserves the recognition she’s now receiving.

Inactivity is quietly draining our economy, health system and communities. Sport England’s latest research is a wake-up call: equal access to sport and exercise could unlock £20 billion in savings and productivity gains for the UK. That’s not just a health issue, it’s an economic imperative. The data is compelling: For every £1 invested in grassroots sport, £4.38 is returned in savings and benefits. Grassroots sport contributes £36 billion annually to the economy and generates £14 billion in tax revenue. Yet inequalities persist. Those with disabilities, lower incomes, and black communities remain the least active. At New Reach, we believe the solution is clear: movement. Sport isn’t just about participation; it’s about inclusion, opportunity, and impact. Every mile run, every game played, every community initiative matters, not just for health, but for economic resilience and social cohesion. As the government prepares its Budget, the questions are: How do we make sport accessible for everyone? How do we turn participation into a national priority? Because the cost of doing nothing is too high. At New Reach, we help brands, rights holders, and organisations turn this challenge into opportunity. Through strategic PR, creative campaigns, and partnerships, we amplify the benefits of sport - driving participation, tackling inequalities, and delivering measurable impact for communities and the economy.
