FIFA has created uproar once more with its plans for football, leading to nations across the globe uniting to voice their anger, and GOAT candidate LeBron James finally announced where he'll be playing next season. The Commonwealth Games continue to deliver with Emily Campbell returning to the top of the podium while our man in Glasgow Ellis has been inspired by one of the many incredible stories coming out of the boxing competition.

Standing up for football

This week has been another marred in FIFA controversy, once again with Gianni Infantino front and centre. The Fifa president plans to sell stakes in competitions to private investors, however these plans are in jeopardy after multiple confederations expressed strong opposition. Footballing nations from Europe, North and Central America, the Caribbean and now Asia have all stood united against Fifa’s plans, stating that they will boycott the next World Cup if plans go ahead.

Namibia’s new star

I’ve had the pleasure of watching Namibia light up Glasgow with their infectious vibe and their fantastic singing during the boxing competition at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, but they’re also lighting it up in the boxing ring. Along with her teammates Philip Pumulo Mutakela Haoseb and Tryagain Morning Ndevelo, Araes has secured herself a place in the semi finals, this is made even more impressive by the fact that she’s the first female EVER to represent Namibia in boxing at the Commonwealth Games. A great story and a great slice of history to be involved with.

Weightlifting gold medallist

The 'Campbell Effect’ is well and truly in action again, after double Olympic medallist Emily Campbell retained her Commonwealth Games weightlifting title. The 32-year-old lifted an astonishing Games-record total of 278kg, while also breaking the clean and jerk Commonwealth record with 163kg, and registering a 115kg snatch lift. With lions braided into her red dyed hair, the crowd cheered for the fan favourite, Campbell, who has just announced she will be taking on Celebrity MasterChef next month.
