Team of the Week - 14.11.25

Records broken, history made and one very smug Team of the Week selection.

Michelle Agyemang backed up an early season prediction with a Golden Girl Award, Jamie Melham made Melbourne Cup history, Scotland dominated in style, and Eliud Kipchoge just keeps proving why he’s the GOAT.

Tess Howard

Former GB hockey player

Olympian Tess Howard has dedicated years to campaigning for PE kit guidance to change. Tess set up Inclusive Sportswear, leading a movement in sportswear policies. While policies on the elite sports field have improved, and Tess was able to wear shorts at the 2024 Olympics, there was little movement in school policy, until now. Finally, choice and inclusion have been added to the updated Department for Education PE kit guidance - well done to Tess and the team.

Chinese Trampoline Team

Medals galore in Spain

Wang Zisai and Hu Yicheng spearheaded a triumphant Trampoline World Championships for China, winning individual world titles. Chinese athletes earned five medals on the final day, including bronzes in Men’s and Women’s Synchronised Trampoline, with their collective success securing China’s second All-Around World Team title. Wang's victory also continued the nation's domination in the men's category, with China winning that title every year bar one since 2006.

England men’s partially-sighted football team

World Championships finalists

Duncan Gilchrist has led his Lions side to the 2025 IBSA World Championship final after a 4-2 win over Türkiye in the semi-finals. Their journey, which included a 7-1 victory over Japan and a 2-2 draw with Ukraine, mirrors the impressive run of England’s blind women’s team, who reached their own World Championship final just last month. Together, both teams have showcased the strength, talent and progress of visually impaired football in England, doing the country proud on the world stage.

Rob Gronkowski

NFL star granting wishes

Rob Gronkowski fulfilled the dying wish of a friend by signing a one-day contract with the New England Patriots, nearly four years after his last NFL appearance, in order to retire with the team. ‘Gronk’, as he’s often known, has a strong interest in charity work, and earlier this month, Gronkowski's charity partner Susan Hurley, a former Patriots cheerleader who founded CharityTeams in 2008, died from cancer. Before her death, Hurley publicly requested that Gronkowski return to the Patriots so that he could officially retire at his "home".
